Satya Narayana Nadella is the third CEO of Microsoft following Steve Ballmer and Bill Gates. He was appointed CEO on February 4, 2014, but was the Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group before his CEO appointment. The Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise group was responsible for building and running the company’s Computing Platforms, and Developer Tools.

1.) Birth: Satya was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh India on August 19, 1967. His father was a civil worker for the Indian Administrative Service.
2.) Education: Nadella attended the Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet before acquiring a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Manipal Institute of Technology in 1988. He then went on to study in the United States at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he received an M.S. in computer science in 1990. He later completed an MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Nadella always said he wanted to ‘build things’ and he knew that computer science was what he wanted to pursue.
3.) Career: Prior to joining Microsoft in 1992, Nadella worked with Sun Microsystems as a member of its technology staff. Sun, was an American company that sold computers, computer components, software, and information technology services. It was later acquired by Oracle on January 27, 2010.
At Microsoft, Satya led numerous projects including the company’s move to cloud computing and its development of one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world. Now, Microsoft is one of the world leaders in cloud computing.
Satya worked as the Senior VP of R&D for the Online Services Division and was the VP Business Division. He has been credited with helping bring Microsoft’s database, Server, and Dev tools to its Azure cloud.
