It appears that a sequel to the critically-acclaimed game Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will be coming later this year. First spotted by NeoGAF, the sequel is titled Middle-earth: Shadow of War and will supposedly be released on August 22.
As leaked by Target, Middle Earth: Shadow of War will be released on August 22 of this year. In addition to box-art, the post includes a brief description of what players can expect:
Go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within. Experience how the award winning Nemesis System creates unique personal stories with every enemy and follower, and confront the full power of the Dark Lord Sauron and his Ringwraiths in this epic new story of Middle-earth.
It’s no surprise that a sequel has been in the works. The mechanics of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor along with impressive graphics propelled the title to be the best-selling Lord of the Rings title of all time. In addition to the Target listing which is now taken down, it mentions a $100 USD Gold Edition which will include two future story expansion DLCs, two “Nemesis” expansions and a Gold War Chest.
With PAX East and E3 2017 right around the corner, fans can expect to hear more about the game over the course of the coming months. The first Mordor game, Shadow of Mordor, was greatly received by critics and players.
